Give Faith a Chance to Receive Her Second Transplant
The story
Faith, diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia at 25, is fighting for a second stem cell transplant after funding was denied.
Hi, my name is Faith, and I am asking for your help as I continue fighting for my life.
Just a few years ago, I was a healthy young woman making plans for my future. I was spending time with friends and family, looking forward to new experiences, and focusing on all the things most people my age take for granted.
Nothing could have prepared me for how suddenly everything was about to change.
At just 25 years old, I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML), an aggressive form of blood cancer. Overnight, my life became hospital appointments, blood tests, treatments, and uncertainty.
Since my diagnosis, I have endured years of intensive treatment, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and a stem cell transplant. I have spent countless days in hospital, faced infections, isolation, exhaustion, and more setbacks than I ever thought possible.
There were times when it felt like my life had been put completely on hold. While friends were building careers, making plans, and moving forward, I was fighting simply to stay alive.
Then, after everything I had already been through, my cancer returned.
Three weeks ago, I was admitted back into hospital after another devastating relapse. My doctors began exploring the possibility of a second stem cell transplant, which they believe offers my best chance of survival.
For the first time since my relapse, I felt hope.
But that hope was quickly threatened.
Despite my medical team recommending the treatment, funding for a second transplant was denied because my situation is considered extremely rare. I never imagined that after spending years fighting cancer, I would also have to fight for access to the treatment that could save my life.
Still, I refuse to give up.
Every challenge I have faced over the last two and a half years has taught me one thing: as long as there is hope, there is something worth fighting for.
Today, I am asking for your help to give me the opportunity to continue that fight.
I am fighting for my future. I am fighting for the people I love. I am fighting for the chance to return to a normal life, to make plans again, and to experience the milestones cancer has tried to take away from me.
